Radish
A few weeks ago I purchased a new rather large TV with monitor-in. I thought it might be a good idea to get one of the older computers I had lying around and turn it into a PVR system, so I purchased a VisionPlus VP3020 card off ebay.

It arrived a few days later, so I put it in the PC and installed the Mythbuntu linux distribution which I soon gave up on (lack of experience with linux made it hard to set up and I had a few problems) and installed a spare copy of Windows XP Professional I had lying around, with the intent of installing GB-PVR (a fantastic piece of software by the look of it). Unfortunately, when I booted up into Windows it would freeze dead after a few seconds. Nothing would respond at all (just like overheating problems I have had before but this computer is very well cooled).

I removed the TV card and booted it up, and it worked perfectly. Put the TV card back in, freeze. I had tried Windows 2000 as well, and that seemed to run alright up until I tried installing the drivers (freeze!)

This morning I put the TV card into my main computer and it worked exactly as it should- no freezes or anything. The old computer I want to use as a PVR is a 500MHz (I can overclock it if the need be) pentium III, with 512MB RAM, a 16MB graphics card (I have a 128MB one to put in but it seems the motherboard is too old.. bios upgrade time?) and the motherboard model is MS6156 version 1.0BX.

The card seemed to work alright under Linux (other problems with that forced me to use Windows instead), but even if I get Windows to run with the card in it freezes when I try to install the drivers. I have tried another motherboard (the same model) and two different graphics cards, and I have tried putting the TV card into all the other PCI slots with no change.

Could anyone help? Thanks in advance! smile.gif
