Heya. Just for theoretical sake (or practical if I get more time to do stupid projects), how would one go about writing a bda driver for an old analog brooktree 878 TV EXEL card?

My thoughts would be-

Gut Dscaler
Mash it to a mpeg 2 encoder
mash it to a bda driver output

I was thinking it would be cool having my Vison Plus run side by side with my old one to give 2 tuners on webscheduler to everybody in the house

As it's a DRIVER you would need to find some way to do mpeg2 s/w encoding in kernel space ie getting enough memory, cpu etc plus ensuring you don't block anything else plus synchronise it all plus make sure you aren't using any user space runtime library calls plus... If you really think you can do it then have a stab at it but frankly it's a complete waste of time, effort and money sleep.gif
