Tried to install these new BDA drivers just released from Twinhan. They simply freeze my system during the automatic installation and hang Windows XP loader. I have to revert back to 1.2.2.9 version. Do anyone registered the same behaviour?

These drivers lock up my system too.
I've tried installing them manually without success.

Has anyone successfully installed them?

Cheers

I've installed them on my DVB-S card, no problem, unfortunatly they stutter like every 1.2.2.x release

nope. The tuner driver locks up my system when it installs as well!

I've just tried the just released 1.2.3.1 drivers! Same behaviour! The installer hangs my system!

Are you guys sure that you are using the correct drivers for your devices???
Some older VisionPlus satellite devices may not be supported by the new drivers, check that.

These drivers are on the Visionplus website and recommended for DVB-T.

Are they the wrong drivers?

I've on the same system:
-The first VisionPlus DVB-T board ever released from TwinHan (VP 1021)
-The VisionPlus VP1030A SAT CI

These 2 boards work perfectly with BDA 1.2.2.9 (same BDA drivers for both board) and TwinHan DTV 2.611a!
But when i try to install BDA 1.2.3.0 or 1.2.3.1 the installer freezes XP!

I have a theory:
Perahps this issue is related to the "EEPROM SUBID recovery" introduced with BDA 1.2.3.0. If i launch the TwiHan BDA console and select INFO i can see under "Firmware version " section that the following item appears: 0.0beta 10. A beta so "not final" version of the EEPROM firmware.
I think these BDA witch have the EEPROM recovery try to upgrade the EEPROM and fail to do it perahps because it's write protected, so the installer hangs the system.

Have you tried the following:

- Install one card at a time - this is likely to save you a lot of time and headaches
- Make sure that once the first card is installed it actually works
- Once the first card has been installed and is working, go the device manager and disable all the device entries. This will ensure that the Windows installer does not associate any of the first card drivers with the second card.
- Turn off your PC and insert the next PCI card in an another PCI slot.
- Once all the hardware devices are installed, enable all the previously disabled devices in the device manager.

No, i have not tried any of this points; but......
If they work well with BDA 1.2.2.9 and don't work with newer releases they actually must have done something, so it isn't a problem of my system!

If 1.2.2.9 work well for you, why bother trying any new ones?

Because a new release will bring many improvements! wink.gif

Non mi sembra in questo caso smile.gif

Si, forse hai ragione! biggrin.gif

Tried them with my Excel card (Twinhan clone, VP-3020, I think), and the installer freezed Windows too. I rebooted and tried to continue the installation, and it froze every time. Reinstalled Spectum's 1.5.3.3 BDA drivers, and everything was fine. Capture quality was excellent.

Just my 0.02...

Have you tried using the Spectrum 1.6.0.1 drivers at all?

I have tried using the Twinhan 1.2.3.1 drivers but they seem to not be as smooth as far as their output data rate, they seem to send out data in large bursts rather than as a steady trickle.

Given that Microsoft will release KMDF V1.1 with support for Win2000 Q2 / 06 http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/driver/wdf/KMDF.mspx

Does anyone have a take on whether this is going to sort the ongoing problem with TwinHan BDA drivers > 1.2.2.0 and Win2000...

It would be nice to hear from TwinHan on this issue, rather than the topic being ignored as usual.

Sorry guys, I have not been following this.
What is it you wanted from TwinHan?
JoeyBloggs
Basically to have the lastest BDA drivers installable and working under Win2000 wink.gif Although there seem to be a number of people having problems under WinXP as well ~

I will ask them if they are supposed to work with Win2K. smile.gif What device are you particularly referring to?
JoeyBloggs
Basically all of the PCI products AFAIK.

also the MagicBox Pro of course (for which no Win2000 drivers are currently available)

hmmm, I assume you mean the PCI cards that use those drivers. I will ask them if they are supposed to work under Win2K
