Hi evrbdy,
can anyone suggest a good book can help with development BDA application and drivers (ecxept MSDN and DDK docs)?

Thanks,
Indiano

Nope sad.gif the only book on the subject that I'm aware of is "Programing Microsoft DirectShow for Digital Video and Television" by Mark D Pesce. ISBN 0-7356-1821-6 and frankly do not waste your money. It does not cover BDA in any real sense. The DDK / SDK documentation is really all there is to go on.

Hmm, sounds strange....:-\
A sample driver I'm investigating is dated 1999...Almost 5 years passed and still no detailed specs or something can help to make your own BDA components easy and fast. The only thing we have in DXSDK is a small graph building issue. Ok, instead of waisting money I'm sure waisting time while putting things together (couple of BDA drivers, one BDA sample application, short docs).

Welcome to the bleeding edge smile.gif I would have to agree they made a solid start and seem to have just been coasting for the last year or two (unless there's a whole new release in QA, ready to come out real soon now ~ ...)

Unless the MS DTV group got sucked into other development (say helping put Longhorn back on track ???) or all left ??? unsure.gif I really don't understand it either.

Well it seems that M$ supports hardware vendors with more information and lefts an ordinary programmer quessing how BDA actually works.... mad.gif

Don't let the above comments stop you buying "Programing Microsoft DirectShow for Digital Video and Television", I still found it a good place to start.

I also had a go at printing off some of the DDK/SDK documentation, but found it quickly ran to thousands of pages, a bit much to curl up in bed with for a light read before visiting the land of nod. This probably also explains why there is no book dedicated to BDA.

I don't know what ever became of KISS, maybe M$ never ever believed it. And don't think you are being short changed in the doc department; unless things have changed since I was more familiar with the lay of the land, the DDK/SDK documentation is all anyone, including M$ developers, have to program from.

If you want to buy the book, Amazon is the go, nearly half the price of the local shops, even after postage.

Cheers,

Mark
