(Apologies if this is the wrong forum for this question, please re-direct me if it is ...)

I am trying to get the BDA drivers for the VisionPlus DVB-t card working on my new HTPC machine. Installation of the drivers works fine, I can build the graph in GraphEdit without any problem, but when I press "play" I get a blank ActiveMovie window with no sound. I'm new to this BDA thing, and don't really know where to look to try and diagnose the problem. It must be something specific about the hardware on my HTPC machine, but what I don't know.

Here are some of the steps I've tried already:

- Have installed the VisionDTV app and associated drivers to determine that the card actually works (it does)
- Have installed the card and the BDA drivers in my desktop machine to make sure I was following the instructions correectly - on this machine GraphEdit works perfectly.
- Have tried a couple of different codecs (Nvidia and InterVideo) - same blank window.
- Have tried a number of different frequencies - same blank window.

I am using a clean install of WinXP Pro SP1, and have tried a re-build also.

The specs of the new machine are:

Asus P4R800-VM with ATI 9100 chipset - on board graphics and sound
Celeron 2.4
512Kb Generic RAM
Old DVD player

Before I start purchasing alternative hardware I'd appreciate any other avenues anyone could suggest.

Cheers,
david

There is a trap where you need to keep the Network provider window alive when you press play. Thing to check is if the network provider settings are updated. eg
NIT, SID, etc. It takes a few seconds to update these values after playing as the BDA Transport information filter needs to get data from the capture filter so it can set the Pid mappings in the Demultiplexer Filter. Also check if you have pids mapping to the video (2) & Audio (3) pins on the demux.

Dan,

I tried your suggestion and ensured that the filter properties window had focus when I pressed play, and I got the same result. SID etc values all remain -1. I remember that when I had this all working on my other machine these properties all had values.

Checked pins 2 and 3 Demulitplexor also - they seem to going to the correct places.

The only change that I notice in the network provider properties window is that I get a signal strength value on the scanning tuner tab. This is the only indication that anything has happened after i press play.

Ok if you had previous experience with BDA & graphedit then you are a pro.
Sounds like the graph is not tunning the network provider.
You may want to check the versions your network provider, BDA information filter, & sections & tables filter. If they are not matched the graph will not tune.

look for the following in the windows\system32 folder. or else were if registered in a seperate location.

Sections & Tables: mpg2data.ax (I use v6.5.1.900)
Demultiplexer: mpg2splt.ax
(I use v6.5.4074.0 longhorn 6.5.1.900 plays up on Ch 9)

Network provider: msdvbnp.ax (I use v6.5.1.900)
Transport info filter: psisrndr.ax (I use v6.5.1.900)

Hope this helps,
Dan.

Provider versions all look OK - it's a stab in the dark but I'll try the Longhorn version you mentioned...
