Thanks to two fellow forum members donating webspace, I have been able to start producing xmltv guides for all regions based on the Oztivo tv guide.
They are available at http://xmltv.locost7.info/and http://guides.byremote.com.au/ The aim of these guides is to ensure there continues to be a free, easy to use xmltv guide solution for Australia. It is NOT to provide the highest quality guides - if you want that then you should have a look at IceTV. The guides rely on the data provided by Oztivo . There will be a variable number of days available, usually from 3-7 depending on the day of the week. Channel 7HD is included in capital city guides. At the moment, it only includes programs that differ from the main 7 channel. This may change, but is something I am still working on. Any problems, suggestions etc. should be directed to this thread. The data policy on the Oztivo website pretty much sums up my policy for this guide, so I am 'borrowing' it for here. QUOTE 1. The compilation of data in the Australian Community-driven TV Guide database is covered by the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike license. We do not want any data to be added to the system if it cannot be covered by this license. 2. Following on from the above license, as an individual or company you can freely use the guide data, but if you redistribute it to others, you must distribute the data for free and you must attribute the origin of the data to us. As a customer, you should not be paying money to receive this data. If that is the case, please inform us. 3. Given that the TV Guide is a volunteer service, feel free to complain, but don't expect us to do anything about it. Constructive suggestions are preferred. 4. Although the last point is true, we appreciate that hundreds of people are relying on the data for their PVRs. We will do our best to provide data as far in advance as possible, but there is no guarantee of service. 5. Most of the data in the database comes from people who volunteer their time to create and upload the data. Therefore, we cannot control the accuracy nor the timeliness of the data sources. We rely on volunteers to notice and manually amend any late changes to programs and scheduling. 6. Our overall goal is to improve the quality and the accuracy of the guide data. We are open to suggestions, and if we have spare time, we'll implement those that sound reasonable. 7. If we make changes, or fix things, we'll let you know, especially if there will be side-effects. If there is strong enough demand to undo a change, then it will be undone. 8. We reserve the right to change any and all of the above at any time, especially while you are sleeping :-) Thanks to Oztivo, for their guide data, Peter and Peter for the free webspace, and all who helped test the guides. |

The download produces an aggregate listing ? Gussy |

Then run DialUp without the "download button" ticked. You may have to make alterations in your DialUp ini file to rename some of the channels. I will post my ini file on the Toppy forum later. It works with both the 2 new sources and D1 (grabber.bat) on DialUp... |

When I run it I get "Data\xmltv1.xml not found ??? but I copied renamed listings file over to DialUp Data folder and can see 833KB data for melbourne is in that folder. Gussy |

I updated my grabber.bat with the following code:
CODE erase OzTivoAdelaide.zip wget http://www.guides.byremote.com.au/Adelaide...ivoAdelaide.zip copy OzTivoAdelaide.zip adelaide.zip pkunzip -o adelaide.zip copy adelaide.xml .\Data\xmltv1.xml It requires WGET which is a free download and PkUnzip (which I think is available in the Dialup Dir but this version can only work with 8.3 filenames which is why there is the name change). -------------------- |

Hi Guys,
Just a note (not a complaint!), it looks like the Seven HD data has the movie being at 10am rather than 10pm. I am sure this is a source issue. No big deal, I prefer it to be there in any form so I can see it at least. CODE <programme start="20071103100000 +1100" stop="20071103120000 +1100" channel="hd.seven.com.au"> <title>Blue Hawaii</title> This is from the Sydney guides. Thanks once again to all involved. Cheers EDIT : Sorry, jumped the gun. It seems that the HD content was on at 10AM today. Well that is what was on the yahoo7 guide too. I thought that 7HD was only going transmit in the evening. http://au.tv.yahoo.com/tv-guide/?hour=12&a...next=1194040800 |

It requires WGET which is a free download and PkUnzip (which I think is available in the Dialup Dir but this version can only work with 8.3 filenames which is why there is the name change). Why dont you try InfoZIP, which does support long filenames?I thought that 7HD was only going transmit in the evening. As I understand, they will eventually be transmitting 24hrs completely independent of the main channel. Guess we just have to wait and see.

Thank you for getting these up.
A simple change in the HTTP Web Source field in Data Source Setting to "http://guides.byremote.com.au/SouthernNSW/OztivoSouthernNSW.zip", re-load data, re-mapped the missing channels and everything is there again in Web Scheduler. Thank you again. |

Well done Ryan, Are you still planning on getting the Shepherd guides hosted? Can I ask, where does Shepherd source its guide info from? I'm all for more info, but not at the expense of possible legal problems. This post has been edited by Oggie: Nov 4 2007, 09:27 AM -------------------- - Peter Ogden

Here's a quick summary of how I got it to work for Melbourne, just a bit different from btmi's earlier post:
1) Install wget and 7-zip Both are Free Open Source Software. 2) Rename the current grabber.bat in DialUp-XMLTV directory, and create a new one with these lines: CODE "C:\Program Files\GnuWin32\bin\wget" --input-file=oztivoURL.conf --output-document=Data\xmltvMelbourne.zip "C:\Program Files\7-Zip\7z" e Data\xmltvMelbourne.zip -y -oData if exist "Data\xmltv1.xml" erase "Data\xmltv1.xml" rename Data\Melbourne.xml xmltv1.xml 3) In DialUp-XMLTV directory create the file oztivoURL.conf , edit it and add the required URL for the data source, e.g. CODE http://guides.byremote.com.au/Melbourne/OztivoMelbourne.zip 4) In a Command Prompt manually run the new grabber.bat to verify it gets the file, unzips and renames etc. You should have a new Data\xmltv1.xml file 5) Once working, use DialUp-XMLTV program and nominate grabber.bat as the Data Source...and away you go. Note: DialUp-XMLTV provides a VBS program for oztivo data but that now fails, apparently due to MS security "fixes". Thanks again to all involved in this! |
