The other problem is that this only effects CPU priority not disk or memory IO priority, while they are closely related it is still possible to have a process use lots of IO with little CPU thus saturation your bus and causing live stream to drop data. My suggestion is don't do stuff like that while capturing live streams. Hey Null, the wierd thing about this corruption is that I was easily able to do all this on my previous box which was a Celeron D, now I have an E6600 with twice as much RAM and much faster disk and I am getting the corruption. Its wierd. With the 2 processes, if I am never going to watch live TV, can I lower one to give more priority to the other? This might be a really dumb question - obviously I don't understand why the 2 processes are there but I thought the question was worth asking. |

Its wierd. IO is dependant on a lot of things, chipset, ram, memory controller, disks etc, any one of them might give you crappy IO performance as your IO is only going to be as fast as the slowest link. Both are important neither can be considered loew than the other. |

I have loaded 5.0.0.8. The new actions take a bit of getting used to but useful. One bug. After the install the EPG was blank. It appears that the app doesn't default to the current day and so no day is selected resulting in a blank epg. Even after downloading and auto adding result was the same. Just clicking on "Today" restored all to normal. Probably easy to fix. EDIT: OK the above behaviour is evident and quite repeatable. But after 7am WS behaves itself. I recall a way back that WS changes days around 7am so maybe that will point to the problem area. The double click option I like. It has long been a frustration when strating previous versions of WS |

If I understand this correctly 'each EPG program will now change to green to indicate it has a schedule associated with it instead of adding a schedule bar under the program, schedules not associated with an EPG program will still show up as a separate schedule bar' when I use the epg and select a program for later recording the writing changes to green in the EPG. This is not happening.

If I understand this correctly 'each EPG program will now change to green to indicate it has a schedule associated with it instead of adding a schedule bar under the program... Oh wow! I hadn't realised this had been implemented already. Fantastic! I assume we're talking about the KB interface (just checking Also, when a recording is finished, what colour does the epg item become? I had always invisaged something like: orange = scheduled, red = running and green = complete. If this makes sense to others, could this be made possible please? QUOTE Yes the schedule is being added and showing up as a schedule bar just as it has in all previous versions. This is in the KB interface correct? not the normal EPG Web Interface. QUOTE Also, when a recording is finished, what colour does the epg item become? Green and Red, green = it is scheduled and red = it is recording, there is no post action colour it just goes back to green. |

For clarity. I did the upgrade at say 6:15am Once installed I went to the epg page and all epg columns were blank, with a note in the top of each page I think that said there was no epg data available. As IceTV keeps my epg up to date at say 6pm each night I assumed that this was a problem with the update, so I dowloaded the epg data and ran auto ad scan. Still the epg page was blank After a while at say 6:45am I went back to look and registered that the today field at the top of the page was not (today). Selected today and voila the epg page was full. I exited and returned to WS and found the epg was blank so selected today again and the epg returned. Trying again after 7am on startup the epg was full of data and (today) already selected. |

Hi null, there are a few spelling mistakes in the change log that I thought I'd let you know of. I've highlighted them in bold
Version 5.0.0.11 * [added] show unlinked option to server configuration, this will show unlinked schedules in the Key Board interface. An unlinked scheudle is a scheules that was created by from EPG item but the EPG item is no longer available |

Seems good. Here are some ideas that might be interesting to implement: - the ability to merge different streams in the same transport, for example could you take the hi-def audio stream and the standard video stream or the other way around? could you for example mix abc2 and one of the radio streams? - Will it have the ability to start and stop recordings at any time ie: while recording abc-hd can you manually start an abc2 recording? - I would like the interface, the recording queue and the recording engine to be separate. The ideal architecture would be to have the capture engine and recording queue as one part, and the user interface as a seperate part. This would help with things like JTVLAN where they could use your engine more directly without haveing to wrap around the server as much. - The ability to stream recordings over a network. It might not need to be integrated into the engine but if it makes it easy to record to a temporary file it would make it easier to then stream this file. Remember the above are suggestions, implement it how you like. Hey that's funny, all these features are in DVPiper There's also the open-source DVB Web Scheduler that uses DVPiper here Cheers |
