Hi all,
I'm building a standalone HTPC. Due to budgetary constraints I am using a spare 10GB HDD for the moment just to get it up and running, and plan to get a bigger drive later. I have an existing "server" PC with heaps of Storage room. I have a home network and was wondering will ethernet work, ie is it fast enough to stream DTV from my my Dvico to my server for recording purposes? My alternate plan (as the two PC's will live side by side) is to user Firewire networking to connect the two, if I can get that to work properly. Both PC's have firewire built in. I know I could get gigabit, but again I don't really want to spend any extra money if I can help it. Any suggestions/ideas would be welcome. |

A 100mbit network should be enough to stream a HD mux. I'm unsure but perhaps you can set WebScheduler or the FusionHDTV software to record to a network path or a mapped network drive? I've never tried it.
