As you may have already read we have been working on a few new features for the TS Mux capture type, the TS Mux capture type now contains all the streams (video, audio, teletext and AC3) from a Program Group. See the following thread for more info:

http://forums.dvbowners.com/index.php?showtopic=2883

So what does this mean and what can it do for you. This new feature of the TS Mux capture type now allows you to use TS file source push filter (just think of them as File reader filters) at the moment there are two available. The one I am working with the most at the moment is one that bear has made available:

http://forums.dvbowners.com/index.php?show...indpost&p=23734

The other is from a project called DVB Portal http://www.dvbportal.de/ and the filter is called HDTVPump.ax

The above filter HDTVPump.ax allows you to play back the new TS Mux format files in Windows Media player or in fact any standard DirectShow Media Player.

The filter from bear I am using in a new version of DVBview to give better compatibility to the TS Mux format, this filter from bear and the new version of DVBview work well together, I have been testing it for the last 2 days (SD only) and it looks like it works very well. You need to the WS version to use this.

The new test versions of Web Scheduler and DVBview are available from the following locations:

DVBview:
http://www.digtv.no-ip.com/temp/DVRview.exe

Web Scheduler
http://www.digtv.no-ip.com/temp/WS-TEST/

And if you really feel like testing some new stuff you can also try our the new file writer, get it from the WS directory above it is called FileWriter.ax and just register it to use in in WS.

Remove Old WebScheduler.
Remove dir left over
Install new WebScheduler
Card Setup, Select THDTV Version 1.6.0.0
Channel Setup, Scan Aus,Melb. get no data in page and the error below

I added a Channel manualy and can get video and voice when recording, the same as usual for me. So it appears to be just a problem with Channel Scanning.

PS I am still using 2.0.8.0 (TwinHan Version) for all my recording as the new version, must have a bad filter some where on my system, which causes significate data loss in the stream, resulting in fractions to whole seconds missing in the recording. (FileWrite 5/2/2005)

hi datkins,

Thanks for your testing and finding this problem. It is a mistake on my part and can be fixed with the addition of a line of code. I will and let null know so he can add in to his project.

Cheers,
Dan.

Hi all,

I currently record in WS using the SS Mux for native mpg2 and everything works nicely at the moment. I use Zoom Player (ZP) for playback and although I haven't tried recording in the TSMux format before, I understand that ZP can be configure to play them (I assume/hope you can choose the desired stream).

Canberra is due to get our first commercial station (7, 9, 10) HD at the start of April so I am following discussions about HD recordings very closely.

My question is - Since the TSMux option records all the streams, how much larger are TS recordings compared to standard SS Mux mpg2 recordings?

The TSMux option does not record all the streams. It will be roughly the same size as your SS Mux recordings. To get all the streams you need to use the Full TS recording option.

Nate,

Could you please publish the version and filenames of filters you have in use in WS so that people can compare it to what they have installed. It would be good if each time you do a new release you publish this information.

I currently a shuttering problem recording (TSmux) in WS (immediate) or in Digital Watch (after a while, some times imediately). The only thing I can think of is Spectrum Driver.

However it all works fine I on a mate's PC with a newer VisionPlus card.

Before I start moving cards etc, I would like to the filter versions etc first.

e.g WinXP SP2
DirectX ?.???
*.dll ?.???
*.ax ?????
Java ?.???

Thanks

I think you got a bit confused. I don't release WS. That would be null_pointer.

Do you have the latest driver including the the updated thdtvcap.sys file? To make sure grab it from here.

Sorry nate, redirect to null_pointer.

I didn't realise that there was a newer version than 1.6.0, I will try 1.6.0.1.

Thanks.

Update Tried 1.6.0.1, same problem, any time the CPU utilisation increases, e.g start an app, it starts to come apart, other wise it takes a while to start the shuttering. AMD 1.2GHz. The person who it is working on is AMD 2000XP (1.8GHz ???). I have two cards (blue, working fine with the orginal Twinhan driver and WS, and red which is not stable with Spectrum drivers) Maybe I should swap it around

Just make things clear 1.6.0.1 isn't an official release from spectrum, it's his 1.6.0 release that i've included the updated thdtvcap.sys file in and I've just called it 1.6.0.1 to try and save some confusion.

Hi null_pointer,

I have noticed over time that when I am using the Full TSMux option on WS that I am getting a small amount of incorrect data at the head of the files. This appears to be related to the DTV card being tuned to a different channel prior to the recording.

I thought that if there wasn't an easy way to resolve this I would suggest that it should be possible to use the MS Demux in the same way as the TSMux option and map all of the different program pids in the stream. If it was done this way the Demux should present only pids of the wanted stream to the dump filter and prevent any other data that occurs prior to the card retuning.

I do a similar action with my test version on the Full DSNetworking option where I can stop & start the Full TS Stream via pid mapping of the demux.

that is one way, another is giving the tuner more time to settle before starting the gragh I suppose.

I am a little bit against using the Demux for full TS stream capture, this option is for when you really must have the full stream errors and all, I am not sure adding the Demux in to the mix will be of any great benifite.

Have you tried sleeping for say 5 seconds before running the graph to see if this gives the tuner enought time to settle?

Yes I have already tried this before and without success, I suspect that the tuner may require a running graph to change freq or that data buffers need to be cleared. I will check again the 5 sec sleep time again just to be sure and let you know.

you could try starting/sleeping/stopping/starting this should flush the buffers.

Or starting, then look for matching ONID, TSID, stopping. Before building the rest of the graph ~

Pretty sure the tuner will change frequencies without stopping the graph, however stopping the graph may not flush the hardware pipeline ~~ (mucho guessing here)

Or modify the dump filter so that it doesn't write the first X bytes to the file.

It's a pity all these filters need to be involved when it would be good just to wait for PID 0, the PMT pid ??

But what if there's a PID 0 packet in the old data? Waiting for PID 0 would not work.

My Brother-in-law is hard of hearing and is looking forward to the day that subtitles are available on webscheduler recorded shows.

Now that teletext is recorded in the TSMUX, is there plans to include optional subtitle display through dvrview?

Paul

no, not by me, but someone may add it, the source is available and is resonably easy to follow.
