for an unknown reason today my tinyUSB2 beetle tv decoder is not recognised by win7 anymore (64 bit)

the device is now not listed in control panel. tried rebooting and unplugging the device for it to be recognised, and wasting heaps of time fiddeling with things that should be simple (plug it in, have windows recognise it, use device)

re-instaling dntvlive1.4 as admin didnt solve it, and the "install driver" function produces an error (5004) (maybe because it is an older program and i am running win7 now ?)

downloaded the driver file from the website, and tried an inf file to install the device driver doesnt work either. using control panel to install some of the inf files from the zip downloaded from the website doesnt work. there is no txt or instruction file to explain which .inf file to choose either (loading them from "add legacy device"
- the driver file is not an exe which would make it simple to install
- the various inf files i tried to load dont do anything (i click on the inf to load it but it doesnt list any hardware options to choose from)

so the device wont run because windows doesnt see it without the driver (which previously worked fine for months)

now it wont even load a driver or let me choose the correct device, and the driver zip doesnt give any indications on how to install the inf (which i presume i am doing correctly) or what driver to load for the tinyusb device (but downloaded the correct zip i believe from the dntv website)

anybody have any ideas on how to install the correct driver for this device

It is possible that it has reached the end of its natural life......It would have to be many years old by now. We would be happy to check it out for you, if you wish,

i am trying to find out how to install the correct .inf file for the device, do you have any solution for this ?

afaik even if the device itself might have become faulty (unlikely), i should still be able to install the .inf file for it (except the device wont work correctly when plugged in)

There is no special way to install the driver, if the device is fine, then it should install without issues.
If you can not install the supplied driver, then the device is either faulty or dead.

what is the normal way to install the driver, and which of the .inf files should i use ?

i presume i can still install the device inf file without having the hardware connected, so that whenever i then connect the device in future my pc will recognize it and automatically load the correct driver for it, right ?

thats how i had it working before

You can not install the driver without hardware connected, once installed, the next time you connect the same USB port the driver will be connected automatically. The normal way to install a driver is to use the driver Setup.exe (if there is one) or by pointing the Windows New Hardware installation wizard to the folder where the relevant driver for you operating system is.

You can also right click on the .inf and select install. From recollection the TinyUSB tuner had two .inf files, one to install the device without remote support and one with remote support, which ever you use does not matter as far the installation or the functionality of the tuner itself is concerned.

thx for the reply

loading the inf file didnt work, and trying to run the "install" drivers from the original cd that came with the device (prob not win7 compatible anyway) produces the error msg i stated in the first post in this thread

can i obtain the setup.exe for just the driver instal from you, or download it somewhere ?

i found some web posts listing a win7 update file as possibly interfering with digital tv decoders, but i cant see that driver in my update list so it might not be relevant

i meanwhile update my mb drivers and mb usb files, just in case that was an issue, but no help there. might try and do the tinyusb2 install from safe mode next

I am afraid you maybe bashing your head against a brick wall. If the device does not appear in the device manager, then it is most probably dead.
