Hi,
I just bought the Quad tuner, installed both hardware & software. I was able to get the channels scanned and working for TV, DAB & FM. Unfortunately any of channel 7 frequencies are not being picked up, any idea what can be the reason. I used the bda scanner to check and seems to me the signal strength is not good or something is missing. Can any one help me? Thanks MACQ |

Thanks MACQ There are three possible reasons for that: 1 the signal is too strong on tha frequency 2 the signal is too weak 3 some interference within your environment at tha frequency ( power supplies, other hardware) Try different aerial/antenna, different location in the house, a signal attenuator - that sort of stuff |

Thanks MACQ Hi, I have been handed a quad tuner to try that someone else does not want. My issue is exactly the same with channel 7. My other tuners can scan all channels with out a problem. Signal is 85%, new coax and antenna just installed. So I put my old Technotrend cards back in and straight up 27 channels found (22 with the quad) and perfect picture. I like the idea of the quad card and I am curious to find out what is wrong. Located in Ocean Grove Victoria. Any ideas? Thanks. |

What is wrong is very simple, you are using a 4 tuner device with its own characteristics and requirements. You can not compare with other devices (particularly single tuners), you are using one antenna for 4 tuners, with the technotrend you are using one antenna for one tuner. By the way, what do you mean by is 85%? Feed it the recommended optimal signal level, as per requirements and then tell us how it goes. The Technotrend cards are single yes, but I have three installed. Connected to this antenna is one Tv and two media centres, one with the Quad and another with 2 single tuners. I connected the Quad direct to the antenna cable this morning and still cannot get any 7 network signal. I scanned with the other cards and they work. As this is a loan card I am not that fussed and will just return it, but it would have been a good idea had it worked out. |

85% is the signal reported from my TV. Unfortunately the 85% figure by your TV does not mean much at all. AlsoThe Technotrend cards are single yes, but I have three installed. Connected to this antenna is one Tv and two media centres, one with the Quad and another with 2 single tuners. I connected the Quad direct to the antenna cable this morning and still cannot get any 7 network signal. I scanned with the other cards and they work. As this is a loan card I am not that fussed and will just return it, but it would have been a good idea had it worked out. the issue with not getting channel 7 might be related to interference within your PC at that particular frequency. Things you can try: try different application to scan the channels. Move the card to another PCIe slot. If your antenna/installation infrastrcuture includes an amplifier, remove it and try without it. Use a different antenna (even a small portable one) see what results that gives you. If the signal is too strong at that frequency a signal attenuator might be required. In general, if a channel is not locked while all the others are, the issue is most likely related to the signal (ie the signal reaching the tuner is either too strong or too weak or too noisy, etc). You can try and use ScanChannelBDA and see what info it gives you for Channels 7 vis a vis the others http://nate.dynalias.net/dev/scanchannelsbda.rails post the channel scan log here and we will have a look at it -------------------- Renura Enterprises Pty Ltd - Owner of DigitalNow and MediaNow- Importers, Distributors and Retailers of Digital TV and other Digital Multimedia Solutions
