Wondering if someone can check the 9 audio using a DD receiver with 9's HD in Brisbane.

NOTE the demo but when a 2.0 show is on.

My Denon 1602 decodes it in short "blips"..... my new Panasonic XR45 decodes it in the same way the Denon 3805 and Arcam AVR300 i "tested" did.

Comes out as a 5.1 signal with voices accross all front speakers....

Seems it has been like this for a long time?

Stupid 9

For the last few weeks, alot more show are comming up as 5.1. CSI is the main show I watch in HD on nine and it is now 5.1 it sounds right on my yamaha 2400.

Yeah I know this thread is a little old but I will put in my 2 cents worth. Seems like 9 couldn't be bothered swtiching thier encoding from 5.1 to 2.0 when the show is only stereo cause I get most stuff in 5.1 but only the left and right speaker being used. I watched The Fellowship of the Ring when it was on and it was the first show I had seen with proper 5.1, I hope there is more of it, its a pity the other stations weren't as serious about HDTV as 9 is. I can't get DD on 7HD at all anymore.

Yes, "native" 5.1 is good, but when the extreme vast majority is 2.0, is 9 really serious about HD when they can't even flick a switch back to 2.0 surround? IMHO the 5.1 mix is worse than having to watch native 5.1 in 2.0.
