after searching for a way to get win7 working without double keys, i stubled across this: http://www.mediacenterguides.com/advancedremotes
so i built a registry entry file that remaps windows' translation tables, effectively telling windows to not do anything with the received commands..

1. so instead of deleting those entries making remote unusable in win7, just tell windows not to do anything about them..
[just seems a more 'proper' way to do it]
CODE
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HidIr\Remotes\745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57da]
"ReportMappingTable"=hex:01,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
02,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
03,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
04,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
05,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
06,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
07,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
08,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
09,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
00,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
0b,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
0a,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
1d,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
1c,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
1f,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
1e,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
21,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
20,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
22,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
4e,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
0f,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
23,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
16,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
18,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
17,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
14,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
15,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
1a,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
1b,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
19,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
10,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
11,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
0e,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
26,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
12,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
13,00,00,00,00,00,00,\
0c,00,00,00,00,00,00

note, mce will still receive them, just not do anything, so hip will still get it's chance to act upon them..

2. or, and even easier, instead of deleting CodeSetNum0-3, set them *all* to 2...that tells windows to only listen to remotes programmed with codeset #2 basically ignoring all factory preset #1's...biggrin.gif
setting *any* to either 0 or 1 won't work, still double presses..[0 seems to mean any, 1 is all factory set remotes]
CodeSetId doesn't seem to do anything in XP..still not sure what it does..
CODE
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HidIr\Remotes\745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57da]
"CodeSetNum0"=dword:00000002
"CodeSetNum1"=dword:00000002
"CodeSetNum2"=dword:00000002
"CodeSetNum3"=dword:00000002

3. or, you can set your remote itself to send codeset #2 and not do any of that stuff, but you'll have to relearn all the keys in hip as the remote will now send out different codes...
[set on remote by holding 'dvdmenu' button while hitting the number button you wish to set it to, till it blinks]
and learning any other remote besides a MCE remote doesn't need any of this stuff..smile.gif

thoughts? needs inclusion in alt-driver page?
need a bit more testing on odd machines to be totally confident myself, but so far so good on 3..
it *should* work in all versions of windows, xp, vista, and win7 biggrin.gif

Sorry - I have been elsewhere of late.

Changing the registry entries shoudl work, but I suspect that whenever you update your software, the reg entries may be restored. Also make sure you back up these entries BEFORE you change them just in case you need them later.

The MCE Plugin files are installed but you just need to set up the lastfile and config files to automate the installation.

i think i know how i can make the reg entries permanent..[controlset001]

hmmm, when i did /s with the full installer, no mce stuff was included...[not a big deal tho]

i do have an updated Pvrx2.hpg file as old gbpvr one isn't valid anymore..
[no gbpvr.exe exists in new version]
and some updated mceremote.hkm's as they don't include colored buttons or the like from newer generic remotes..
am getting others to verify i got all the keystrokes but pretty sure already...
should i send it to you when it's ready? [for inclusion in next version]
or just post it here?
really makes it easier to setup HIP..smile.gif

That would be helpful.

Post them here and I will collect them so that users get their benefit before I release an update.

here's the pvrx2.hpg, along with an updated mceremote hkm and a MVP/pvr150-45 button hkm file...biggrin.gif
let me know if you see anything wrong with them..

also, i have a question about repeat rates, it seems the mce dongle 'settings' for repeat and held delay don't do anything...
either that or the output post routine is slow as honey...[i use post messages for output]
same remote is lightning when used by itself with only keystrokes from driver..
any thoughts?

and do you know any way to see what codes the mce driver is seeing when a remote button is pressed?
like it sees a 0x0C when power [PC] key is pressed...
like a hid spy util..
any help appreciated..
