Hi TheRat,
Yes, I have tried the remote bridge, but it's still no good. I also setup Windows 7 as a dual boot - which took days to get working - not easy to install windows 7 on these new boards.
However, Windows 7 has the same freeze issue :-(

Firstkly let me tell you that we many customers use Windows 10 x64 and the Quad works fine in such systems - so it is not a Windows 10 issue.

It is most likley a motherboard/BIOS issue.

If your motherboard uses onboard graphic, check in the BIOS settings if there is an option to use external graphic card. if so disable the option to use such an external graphic card. A customer previously found that once a PCIe card was installed in the system, for some reason the system thought that there was an external graphic card and the system would freeze/crash when attempting to use the quad.

Is it not possible to get a new production run of the previous design? (...or does the previous development partner own the design?)
No the issue is not the design (which we own) it is that some of the components are no longer made.

There are other quad DVB-T/T2 cards on the market. It is the DAB and FM support which is harder to come by. Obviously the dual hybrid cards don't support DAB at all. sad.gif
You can buy a Dabby USB dongle which will give you DAB+, FM and another digital tuner. I would be interested to hear from anyone in the world who has used these other Quad DVB-T cards:)

OK thanks. Any news on the possibility of a new quad ?

We have been trying very hard to get another one developed, but the costs are too high and the market too small, so unlikely that we may have another DN quad card, we are however talking to other companies who maybe interested in co-sharing the model and market it more widely. In the meantime I would recommend the use of 2x Dual Hybrid cards to achieve the same result (you need two PCIe slots of course!).

Does anyone know if "DNTV Dual Hybrid (7164) PCIe" is a rebranded card ? If so what is it ?

It is not re-branded anything, developed and produced for us only as was the Quad and many other DN products.

My TinyTwin v3a arrived in quick time, thanks DigitalNow.

Unfortunately under Windows 8.1 64bit the v3a is only seen by TVSchedulerPro (280) as a single tuner in the select devices web page sad.gif

Any ideas how to get TVSchedulerPro / Win8.1x64 to recognise it as twin tuners ?

Oh, hang on, it installed fine in Win7 at first and now when I visit the web page it says this :-
[attachment=1873:ttv3a.jpg]
and the second tuner has it's disappeared in Win7x64 as well.

Thanks

The first thing to do is check that you have installed the correct driver (from the CD) and that DNTV Live shows two tuners.

and tried different slots on the MB (even cleaned the contacts)

I loved my quad ;(

any discount for a return customer?

All good things come to an end, unfortunately.

hi, my quad pcie seems to have died ;(

worked fine for over a year, and now(as of tonight) comes up as "no signal" or no card under mediaportal.. I just did 2 full fresh installs of MP and windows and the same errors appear. also tried a new ant and cables.

I haven't changed any hardware or software on the mediacentre.

What is the warranty for the quad? it must be over a 1 year old, so ?

and ideas or advice would be great.

thanks

oh - specs are i3/ 8gb /128 ssd /2tb green -- none of these have changed in over a year, so I do not believe it is a compatibility issue

First thing to check is if the drivers are installed correctly in the device manager, if so, then check that the tuners can scan the channels, If no device appear, then try a different PCIe slot or different PC, if they fail to show in all cases then it is dead. Warranty is 12 month from date of purchase.

Hi All, first time post. I am running the latest version of dntv live and from the discussions on forums it seems the intervideo codecs are a good choice for recording quality. I have installed windvd 11 and 10 and the codecs have registered, checked with graphedit, but I cannot select intervideo codec, it just reverts to Microsoft MPEG2 codec. I got it working with windvd7, so was thinking there may be issues with the later versions if codec? Just wondering if higher versions do work I may be missing out on quality etc? Thanks Craig

Recording quality does not depends on the video decoder used by DNTV Live!, so it should not matter what you use when recording.
Quality of the video when playing it back will depend on the video decoder as well as the video card, display, resolution, etc, so that is where you have to look and decide for yourself what looks better in your situation.

The card isn't "faulty" other than for perhaps this issue. The cause hasn't been identified at this stage. I'm not saying I know what the cause is and haven't ruled anything out (unlike you), I just know there is an issue.

As previously said all our devices can tune all DVB-T frequencies in Australia, irrespective of re-stacking or what_have_you.

In general, if a card/device can tune a channel (eg SBS) with one application (and not another application), then there is absolutely nothing wrong with the card, its drivers, the signal or the application used - therefore these can be ruled out.

I know that the S3 is an old card, but if it does pick up SBS with DNTV Live! or any software and it does not with Media Center, then I would suggest the issue is with Media Center or the registry.

Thank you. How do I get the remote working? I have installed HIPInstallComplete_4004 but do not know what to do next. Is the remote just for WMC or will it work for the native software?

Peter

The remote is for use with Media Center - there is no need to install HIP or any other thing.

As far as I am aware it is all working perfectly. Thank you all. One last thing, I was trying to scan for DAB+ stations but 1. There isn't one available in Device Selection and 2. When I scan there is no choice of Perth, WA.

You can not scan DAB+ with that card, you need a device that supports DAB+ (eg the Dabby or the Quad to do that)

I have deleted everything and am about to re-install. I have installed Java 32 & 64bit as administrator but before I went any further I spotted this: “Please take care to carefully read the instructions on the DigitalNow website, especially if you have a 64bit system” I do have a Windows 8.1 64 bit system but cannot find those instructions on your website?

the most important thing is that you install everything as Administrator.

If you are intending to use both DNTV Live! and DNTV Scheduler Pro, then it is suggested that you:
Install DNTV Live! first.
Enter the user name and serial number.
Check that it works fine.
Then install DNTV Schedler Pro.

There were no other cards installed. It had only been the DNTV Live! Dual Hybrid S3. There were no problems with SBS before the retune. There is nothing wrong with the system. I am very confident the registry is not compromised. I only tried another card in the same system AFTER the problem arose.

Why don't you think the problem is a driver issue (or a hardware issue) as discussed in this Thread which some in Brisbane say solved the problem (for Hauppauge cards) after their retune.

Because, unless your card is faulty, the tuner is capable of tuning all DVB-T frequencies in Australia and we have not had anybody else with an S3 card complain that they can't tune SBS.

Before dropping out 2nd Quad card in DNTV Scheduler Pro 2, 8 different frequency channels windows are shown fine in DNTV Live.
My issue is not DNTV Live.
I am having the problem with DNTV Scheduler Pro 2.
I do not watch live TV. I am trying to record 8 TV channels concurrently.

I understand - I am trying to figure out whether the issue is with the tuners or with the software or other hardware......

try TV Scheduler see if you get the same issue.

I already set power options as you quoted. I still get the problem.

I found this article and tried. There is no solution.
http://www.pcmediacenter.com.au/forum/topi...-with-4-tuners/

My computer is Dell Precision R7610 Workstation with Windows 7 Pro.

Have you tried viewing 8 different frequency channels at the same time using DNTV Live! try doing that and let all of the 8 video windows stay on for as long as possible, and see what happens. I know of several customers who use 2/3 Quad in the same PC without issues, so it is definetely not a card or driver issue.

If you are intending to use both DNTV Live and DNTV Scheduler Pro, then you must make sure that you don't try to use the same tuner with both applications.

The best approach is to use DNTV Live! for viewing and DNTV Scheduler Pro for scheduling unattended recordings.

Yes DNTV Scheduler Pro is a more complex application, as it does so much more than most people require, but once you learn how to use it, you will get the rewards, as it is very stable and reliable.

Don't try to learn too much in a few days........do it a bit at a time - it can take a few months to learn the full functionality of DNTV Scheduler Pro....so take it easy. smile.gif

I'm not sure why a fresh install of Windows would help - also seems very drastic.

If I put another card in, WMC displays SBS fine.

It's like there's some issue between the DNTV Live! Dual Hybrid S3 and WMC7, since the retune.

I doubt it very much that it is a hardware issue - it is possible that the registry might have been compromised by other cards installation - that is why I suggested the re-installation of Windows (or restoring it to a point where no TV tuner cards had been installed)

I tried this.
This makes all 8 channels working.
After a while, DNTV Scheduler Pro 2 drops out 2nd Quad DVB-T card and I get same problem but 8 QUAD DVB-T drivers appear fine in Windows Device Manager.
The problem keeps happening after a few days.

I think the problem might be with the operating system/mainboard and ithe ability to manage (supply power to) all 8 USB devices at all times!

A few things you might want to try:

- Disable any power saving devices/options/screensavers/etc
- Use High Performance Power scheme
- Do not turn your PC Off
- Do not plug/unplug any other USB devices into the PC

See how that goes.

If DNTV Live sees only 4 tuners, then one of the card is not installed correctly.

Try the old trick. smile.gif
Install only one card and make sure it works
Now disable all tuners of that card in the device manager.
Install the other card and make sure all tuners work.
Now enable the other four tuners and see what happens.

Thanks for your reply but do you think that wasn't the first thing I did?

I've rescanned from scratch, rescanned for extra channels - tried every trick I know in terms of rescanning/resetting within WMC but it seems stuck on "no TV signal" for SBS (even though Program Guide data has filled in).

I've got a few HTPC's with different tuners (mainly Hauppauge) and they're all fine with SBS after the retune - so I'm stumped.

That makes two of us! the only thing I can suggest is a fresh install of Windows.

What about for people using their DNTV Live card with Media Centre? Since the frequency change on 7th Feb in Melb, SBS is not being picked up in WMC (no signal) - but is picked up fine by other tuner cards. What's the solution? Thanks

Rescan with Media Center and it should be fine.

I installed the DNTV Dual Hybrid (7164) PCIe today. Whatever I do the card cannot find SBS 1 or 2 in Perth. ABC, 7, 9 and 10 are fine, my previous card Videomate T300 PCI picked up SBS well. I understand that all drivers and software have to be installed as administrator, this cannot be done if clicking on autorun.exe, should I not use autorun but install individually? If not using autorun in which order should all the drivers and software be installed. If I wished to delete everything and do it again how should I accomplish this? Windows 8.1 64bit , 8gb RAM, 240gb SSD NTFS, Java 32bit and 64bit are both installed.

Thank you

Unacceptable. Driver just needs a tweak to get it to work on USB3. Its nearly there, just needs a review.

Upgrading is a waste of money when a tuner is a tuner and an upgrade doesn't give me any further benefit.

We thought the same thing, and asked the manufacturer many months ago, but their response has been rather cold.......maybe they will listen if more people complain!

On the other hand.....who says that it is their drivers problem and not the USB3 drivers??
Why shouldn't manufacturer of motherboards ensure that devices that worked on USB2 also work on USB3??

You are welcome to contact them http://www.ite.com.tw/EN/memberservice_contact.aspx
