I need to send out an IR code when I type a key on my PC keyboard. Can someone point me to a HIP example or tell me how to set this up? I'm using a USB-UIRT.

You need to teach HIP the IR Code, check that it works and then assign that IR Code to the keyboard command. Check out the http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Tips/HipGuide because even though this is for a different platform it should point you in the right direction.
