Card: DNTV Live Dual Hybrid PCIe S2

Here is a problem that has me totally stumped and I would be glad to hear any suggestions for resolving it.

I have a DNTV Live! Dual Hybrid PCIe S2 and S3 card running under Windows 7 (64bit) Professional.

It has been running perfectly until a few days ago.

Since then two things have happened:

(1) I added another 4GB RAM memory to my PC
(2) A recent and fairly large windows update has been installed.
(3) The TV card stopped working altogether

I suspect that somehow the Windows update has corrupted my TV software but I have no exact proof of this.

Whatever the problem is, I know IT IS a software issue and NOT a hardware issue because my PC is a dual boot machine and I can boot into Windows XP and this card and all XP software runs perfectly.

More specifics:

1. Windows device manager shows that this card is installed and drivers loaded and that the device is working properly
The exact entry under Sound, Video and Game Controllers is:

NXP SAA 7162 Hybrid Capture Device

[with the following drivers loaded]

BDASUP.sys
DMK.sys
KSTHUNK.sys
NXVCAP64.sys
PORTCLS.sys
NXPMV64.dll

Although the device and drivers seems to be properly installed DNTV Scheduler reports that NO DEVICES are available.
The two existing entries have exclamation marks against their entries to show that these are NOT working.
Similarly DVBGuide.exe shows 'no devices available' when I run it (as a check for signal strength)

Since encountering this problem I have:

1. Removed and Reinstalled the driver using the latest version from the DNTV live website [Driver is PCIe_1.5.76.1623]
2. Check that DirectX 11 is functioning correctly without errors [DXDIAG.exe]
3. Removed and re-installed my nVidia display drivers
4. Run Windows Update again ... this time it said it found an update for the NXP SAA 7162 so I installed this. It did seem to help a little because after rebooting I was able to detect devices with both Scheduler and DVBGuide.exe however I was still unable to actually watch any TV Channels or capture any scheduling data.
5. After the unsuccessful Windows driver update I removed the drivers and reinstalled DNTV drivers once again but after this there were again no devices available to watch tv or record!

Frankly I don't know where to begin resolving this issue. Any suggestion would be much appreciated.

Two things to double check:
1. Have you installed everything as administrator?
2. Have you installed DNTV Live! first and ensured that the you entered the user name and serial number required to enable the DNTV software to work with these cards?

Try removing the extra RAM and see what happens — I seem to recall a problem with some cards and more than 4GB in 64-bit systems.

It was some time ago, and my memory's not what it was.

Also (probably teaching Granny to suck eggs, but...) when reinstalling drivers it's often a good idea to remove the error-flagged devices from Device Manager (if it gives you the option to remove drivers or other things with the device, do so), restart and then install drivers via Device Manager — don't let it look on the 'net, I usually disable 'net access in such cases until sure the drivers I have don't work.
