I have been running JC276 faultlessly for many months on my Windows 7 computer, (great program by the way). A few days ago, Java requested an update and now although the computer wakes from sleep for EPG update or scheduled recordings, it no longer returns to sleep when these processes complete. As Java update is the only change, is this the problem and what is the solution. I am reluctant to restore the earlier Java version since the update was a security fix I think.

Any clues?

This happened to me. But 2 or three restarts later it was back to normal.

Thanks Paull.

Just to be clear, were the restarts wake from sleep or reboots?

reboots.

In fact my problem was slightly different. I don't auto suspend, but My screen sleep would not kick in. It was like the computer thought it was busy all the time so it could not do any of its power saving features.

a couple of restarts later and then it started happening again.

Tried the suggest couple of reboots and normal service now resumed!

However I now think that was a coincidence. I had Windows power saving set to never sleep. This had not been a problem for many months as JC276 managed the end of activity sleep by itself. It now appears that another program, (antivirus?) sometimes starts up and prevents the JC276 sleep from occurring and by the time that has finished, the earlier sleep instruction is lost. I have restored windows sleep to 30 minutes and now for example, the epg update set for 12pm usually is asleep by 3 minutes past, (via JC276) but sometimes is 30 minutes later, (via Windows Power Handling).
