I accidentally recorded something in HD but I want to put it on a DVD to play on a DVD player. How can I convert it to normal DVD frame rate?

Russty,
I think DeVeDe which is available for both Linux and Windows might do this. Its worth a try. Rob |

Thanks again Rob! You have been very helpful to me lately! I didn't know that DeVeDe was also available for Windows. This was a program I recorded on Windows. I still haven't got it scanning channels on Ubuntu, but am still working on it, I just haven't had much time or it the past couple of days.

Rusty,
I'm not so sure about DeVeDe now. I tried the Linux version on 90 min of ABC HD I recorded on my Ubuntu pc. It was an M2T file and was not recognised. However its possible that your XP recorded file might be OK with it. If you recorded with the DVico software then don't forget their Converter program that is loaded at the same time as the software. You might find something useful here: http://www.tucows.com/Windows/AudioVideo/V...ideoConversion/ In particular I thought this one might do it: http://www.tucows.com/preview/397526 I'm in the reverse position to you. I can't get my tuner to work on my XP pc. Drivers won't load!!! Will have to spend some time on it. Rob |

I had a bit of a problem with them but have mastered it now. Let me know if you need help with 3.6Beta. Russty |

Russty,
I've found a newer version of DeVeDe for Ubuntu, have installed it and it is currently converting my 90 min ABCHD recording. So the latest Win XP version might be OK after all. Rob |

Hi again Rob,
I took your advice about DeVeDe, I decided to try it on Ubuntu rather than Windows, and I was able to use the fusion .tp HD file (of Foyle's War) recorded on Windows. I wasn't too sure if it would turn out too good, I tried using the fusion converter the other day and it ended up all jerky, but with DeVeDe it came out perfect!! I burnt it with KB3. And the great thing is that the original 7GB file is now just 2.2GB. And when I play the DVD it looks just like all the others, no degrading at all! WOW! Oh and the other thing, using fusion converter it took about 5 hours to convert it, but with DeVeDe on Ubuntu it took just over 2 hours. GREAT Thanks for putting me onto it, I didn't think that I would be able to use Ubuntu to solve that problem. Ubuntu is getting better all the time!! Russty. |

Sounds good Russty.
Pity it doesn't seem to do menus. When I find a Linux dvd authoring program that does menus I'll be another step closer to getting rid of Microsoft. My usb tuner will not run on the latest Beta from DVico but is OK on earlier versions. It's fairly academic anyhow as I'm likely to put the tuner back on the Linux pc. Rob |

Rob I believe that QDVDAuthor can do menus, you can read about it here QDVDAuthor If you click the image at the top of the page, it will show you how it is done. Looks interesting! You should be able to install it through synaptic or adept package managers. Russty. |

Unfortunately Ubuntu repositories are 6 months out of date on this one but I'll have a play with it. Rob |

Rob Let me know how you go with it, I haven't used it yet. I am still trying to get mythtv to scan channels, without any success yet, but I am persevering. Everything else seems to be correct now. So I am still stuck with windows for my tv at the moment. Russty |
