Has anyone noticed a blank video PID since channel 10 rolled out their new Hi Def.

I didn't bother mentioning it at the time because I thought it was a a glitch of theirs but its still there a few months later.

When I record a show from Ten in TS-Mux the show has 2 SID's with different video & audio pids according to TSFileSource.

SID 1585, PMT 257, PCR 130
Ch1: Ten HD - Video PID 514, Audio PID 672

and

SID 1589, PMT 256, PCR 0
Ch10 : Ten Digital - Video PID 0, Audio PID 0

If the wrong one is selected then no video or audio is played.

Here's the pids from the WS log (not for the same recording but similar).

PIDs Mapped : 257, 130, 514, 672, 577, 0, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20
Consumer Graph Running

Should Webscheduler filter out the blank streams when recording? Or I am only the one seeing this?

Also I guess should TSFileSource Filter out blank streams as well rather than have the option of playing them? All PIDS are 0 so there is no point in even showing the stream as a valid option.

Bit hard to judge this, since it should be valid pids. Will look at what can be done.

Do you want a sample?

Are 0 pids valid? If so then yes, you should display them.

Might be just as simple to get you to trial any changes if this is ok, It might be a case of checking if the service is running although this relies on the broadcaster doing the right thing. If the PCR is always going to be zero then this might be easy fix.

Happy to try anything you need.

Just be aware I am using a build of TSFILESOURCE that was modified by the Mediaportal Crew.

This has no bearing on the 0 PID issue. I use this version because it seeks to correct time values which I require for Comskip/Zoomplayer to work properly to provide auto ad skipping.

The source code used to be on their SVN server but seems to have moved now?

I think they have moved on (at least they have been trying to), they have tsreader but the number of times I have tried it, it has not even been close to as good as tsfilesource for my needs.

Neither have any of the alternatives, haali, nvidia, nero, and the only one close (but still not as good) hdtvpump.

@Calvi, Ok, I was able to rebuild the MP version of TSFileSource and added some filter code to remove the service if the pcr pid is zero as well as added a few other fixes while i was there so try this version and see how it goes.

1. Stream with Blank PID'S gone.
2. Seeking works fine (as before).

Nice Job. I have only done some quick tests but all looks good.

Probably worth raising the version number, there are a lot of Beta 21 builds out there now smile.gif.

PS. Are you going to update the SVN @ http://nate.deepcreek.org.au/svn/TSFileSource/trunk ?

Thanks Dan.

Can you post a capture log for a recording, this will have all the parsing info for what pids it will capture for a program.

Calvi,

Yes intend to when your testing is complete, is the original SVN build work ok? I seem to remember there may have been a seeking issue at some point. For those that need the MP build I will leave it here for a while and post the source file that has been updated to this thread.

Yes the current svn has seeking issues. If Zoomplayer requests a certain framenumber or time (I forget which, but sustpect its time?) tsfilesource has an accumulated error. This does not occur on the MP build.

I use TSFilesource everynight so will have an answer on stability etc over the next few days.

what I was actually after is the consumer capture log from the log dir, the easiest way to get this is click the "Export" link on the schedule Information page, the same page you copied the above text from. Then save the zip and submit it to this thread.

bear how does the filter get a list of the available services from the TS?
Is it using the SDT (Service Description Tables) form PID 17?

Not exactly sure what your asking here, besides this may have been all a bit of a wild goose chase. Calvi identified that he was having problems recording with WS TS-Mux and identified seeing a second program with zero pids according to TSFileSource. I believe he was using TSFileSource to get the pids for the three sub programs HD, SD & Guide in that order.
The problem I found was that the TSFileSource version he was using was the Mediaportal build which had some legacy bugs in the pid parser code still as it is not linked to nate's current SVN Build. The code bug would have been transparant to MP users as they only used the first program in the PAT. As the bug causes every second program in the PAT list to be skipped as far as PMT parsing and would have resulted in TEN SD program displaying 0 pids.
Not knowing this I moved to modify the MP version to filter out any program with zero pcr value not realising that the problem was related to buggy code which I just happened to fix out of convienence sake.
Anyway Calvi is happy.

Cool thanks for the clarification.
I was confused as the parser in WS was able to pick up the PCR or the second service but it was not showing up in the FileSourse output

WS
Program (1585) : (257-PGM) (130-PCR) (514-VID) (672-AC3) (577-TXT)
Program (1589) : (256-PGM) (128-PCR) (512-VID) (650-MPG) (651-AC3) (576-TXT)
Program (1592) : (263-PGM) (130-PCR) (514-VID) (672-AC3) (577-TXT)

FS
SID 1585, PMT 257, PCR 130
SID 1589, PMT 256, PCR 0

Anyway your explanation of the bug explains the missed PCR, all cool.

Thanks guys, so long "Calvi is happy" that is the main thing. smile.gif

PS. You are right. I just checked Beta 23 (which I had tried before) and it does not show 2 streams.
This particular bug is thus limited to the Media Portal Build.

Retrying beta 23 (current SVN) though also still had the inaccurate seeking issue. Where you able to find what is in the MP build to fix this?
