Hi Null,

Last night I noticed that the pre-task I have configured was not being run correctly. I went back through my logs and this started happening after the upgrade from 5.0.016 to 5.0.0.20.

The log shows the issue below...

Version 5.0.0.16

CODE
06/03/08 19:55:04 : Running task (Card Task) on file ()
06/03/08 19:55:04 : Will wait for 20 seconds for it to complete
06/03/08 19:55:05 : Command finished normally
06/03/08 19:55:05 : Task finished, Output of task follows:
06/03/08 19:55:05 : *****************************
06/03/08 19:55:05 : Standard Out:
WebScheduler Card-Task by J. Calvi.
Shuts down Digital TV apps to free up cards and resets cards if required.

06/03/08 19:55:05 : Standard Error:

06/03/08 19:55:05 : *****************************
06/03/08 19:55:05 : Task Command Finished
06/03/08 19:55:05 : Starting producer, device 0:FusionHDTV, BDA Tuner3

Version 5.0.0.20 and all later versions up to 5.2.0.9
CODE
06/03/08 21:25:00 : Running task (Card Task) on file ()
06/03/08 21:25:00 : Will wait for 20 seconds for it to complete
06/03/08 21:25:20 : Command timed out, killing it now
06/03/08 21:25:20 : Task finished, Output of task follows:
06/03/08 21:25:20 : *****************************
06/03/08 21:25:20 : Standard Out:

06/03/08 21:25:20 : Standard Error:

06/03/08 21:25:20 : *****************************
06/03/08 21:25:20 : Task Command Finished
06/03/08 21:25:20 : Starting producer, device 0:FusionHDTV, BDA Tuner3

The task was not changed , only WS version.

I tried recreating the task, giving it direct path etc but it does not run, only times out. Service is as logon user and has always been so.

For some reason your command is timing out:

I don't know why or why it would start doing this after version 5.0.0.20

Try setting it up as a post task and running it on a file, the file name will be ignored but the command should still run in the context of WS/User etc, this will allow you to monitor it and see if it ever exists, if not at least you will have more time to see what it is doing.

You could also try a simple BAT as a pre task, something like echo Hello and see if that works and does not time out.

Yes i saw the time out. I had tried a few simple bats that echo to the screen, then a file, then remembered it all used to work and went back through the logs and found it worked until the upgrade from 16 to 20. You can see the echo response in the first example and its gone in the second.

The original bat file is very simple anyway, it just closes tv players if the last card is to be used.

I will try running the task from the WS filemanager and see what happens.

Yes this is a bug, I am surprised this has not been picked up before this. I will release a fix test build soon.
