But other than that, looks good. I'll let you know if I find out anything else. Thanks for the good work...

Hi, looking at your log the first thing that comes to mind is that Chunker.exe is missing from directory util.
Otherwise try running the same command (".\util\Chunker.exe" -out "e:\tv\(2008-05-13) test-.ts") from a command prompt (with WebScheduler as current directory) and see if there's any error message (perhaps Chunker.exe is corrupted, try extracting from the .zip again).

Thanks for the reply. The response to the command is "The system cannot execute the specified program."
I tried re-extracting from the zip but I get the same error.

Otherwise I've been using 4.0.20u for about a week now with no problems to report.

Just out of interest, why fiddle with the open-source version and deny the author modest income (the real product is CHEAP and RELIABLE and the author listens to requests).

so, on one hand you are happy for the Open Source version to come up with new ideas...

I'm sticking with my very trusted, tried, and proven, paid-for version of WebScheduler from BlueBit. I'd even be happy to fork out for a new version which had reasonably significant upgrades (eg more customisation features such as pop-up windows sizes and font sizes and channel heading colours, integrated off-air epg pullling (?) etc) since the price is quite reasonable.

I note this other forking thread http://forums.dvbowners.com/index.php?show...80&start=80 about open source... just wondering if there's anything interesting for you to consider for your version, null (free development ideas) smile.gif ?

... but on the other, you don't like continued development of the Open Source version.

Er, nice try oz, however (i) I didn't say I didn't like it so don't say I did when I didn't smile.gif (ii) suggesting and implementing new ideas aren't inconsistent nor mutually exclusive as I even pointed out... have fun anyway, whichever method rocks your boat.

I think the reason why open source is popular is because it is a different way of developing with everyone getting involved. I don't think that anyone should discourages this form of development because there is an alternative paid for close source software that does the same job. This logic could have been used to discourage the original WebScheduler, as there were plenty of alternatives available at that time. DVPiper is an interesting development which does a few things that WS doesn't do, which is why I am supporting the testing of this product.

Just my two pennith.

Actually at the time I started WS there was no alternative, the only device available in Aust was the PCI TwinHan device from Renura and the software that shipped with that device was crap.

I made WS open as it was a good way of getting people engaged and there were a lot of good suggestions and features that came from that.

Even now I dont think there are many alternatives that have the same feature set as WS.

My only concern with this project is that is not Open Source, well not that I can see anyway, yes the changes made to the base Web Scheduler wrapper code have made available but the code the DVPiper tool I can not find.

Just because something is free does not make it open.

Agreed - DVPiper is strictly FreeWare and not OpenSource.

This part of the OpenSource thread (from efax's post onwards) should be split off to a new thread. Therefore there is no confusion with the OpenSource version.

Hi, yes I think a separate thread would be a good idea...

Hi, I've changed the VC compile setting, and compiled it on someone else's computer too...
So hopefully is ok now...

Yes, it runs without an error now. I'll use it a bit within WS and let you know how it goes. So far, no major problems. Seems to work as well as the original, but with a few additional tweaks.

So far just one problem, it doesn't create a directory if it needs to. I use the pattern %n/(%y-%m-%d) %s and missed a new show.
Schedule gets marked as skipped.

This happens with all output types in my testing so I think it is possibly an issue further back in the chain.

Yes I'm aware of this, just thought wasn't a big issue wink.gif
Please find below the updated .jar file.

So, may I ask what happened to the merging with Open Scheduler suggestion? not a big deal though, I may just continue this...

From reading recent posts above, as well as very early posts on this thread regarding "licensing issues" with icons, I have made the following changes.

1. Icons and images have all been changed.

2. The application has been renamed to DV Scheduler, and all references to Web Scheduler have been removed.

3. The capture engine is now configurable, so that you can use different capture engine(s) and not necessarily DVPiper.

4. I have started a new thread for DV Scheduler (see below). This should avoid confusion with Open Scheduler as mentioned earlier.

New thread here
