184.7 Compiled with Java 1.7u5 x86 Added if it helps those with Java 1.7 Update 5 issues. Thanks for the update. I still cannot get the TV Scheduler web page to work in Firefox with 184.7 Compiled with Java 1.7u5 x86 and Java 1.7 Update 5, although I did notice that on reinstalling Java 1.7 Update 5 I also had Java 1.6 Update 33 installed. Tray icon and service were working OK. I am running 32 bit Windows 7 Professional fully patched. Regards |

Are you sure Windows firewall is not blocking Java?
Try uninstalling all Java versions, then reinstall Java 1.7 Update 5, check the firewall exceptions (or turn it off temporarily) then restart TVSP. I have tested with Win 7 x64 with Java 1.7u5 (32 bit) and this works fine. This post has been edited by Calvi: Jul 17 2012, 06:39 PM |

Java check in Firefox did not work until my firewall (Outpost free) was disabled, then re-enabled. Do you know if the original TV Scheduler Pro v184 installer will be updated at Sourceforge? Oracle advises that Java 1.6 will no longer be supported after 2012. |

That worked thank you! TV Scheduler now looks to be working with Java 1.7u5 in Windows 7 Professional 32 bit. I spoke too soon. The TV Scheduler webpage that came up on restarting Firefox must have been cached. I still cannot access http://localhost:8420/ with Java 1.7u5 installed. |

I also tried IE 9.0.8112 16421. 127.0.0.1 doesn't work, or the preferred IP address of the PC. I have tried a fresh install of Java 1.7u5 and TVSP 184 (the base installer from Soureforge) on another Windows 7 x64 machine and it all worked fine...
System Info -------------------------------------------------------------------------- java.home: C:\Program Files\Java\jre7 java.class.path: java.homeTVSchedulerPro.jar java.specification.version: 1.7 java.specification.vendor: Oracle Corporation java.specification.name: Java Platform API Specification java.version: 1.7.0_05 java.vendor: Oracle Corporation java.vendor.url: http://java.oracle.com/ java.vm.specification.version: 1.7 java.vm.specification.vendor: Oracle Corporation java.vm.specification.name: Java Virtual Machine Specification java.vm.version: 23.1-b03 java.vm.vendor: Oracle Corporation java.vm.name: Java HotSpot Client VM java.class.version: 51.0 os.home: Windows 2003 os.arch: nullos.version: 5.2 user.name: SYSTEM user.home: C:\Documents and Settings\Default User user.dir: C:\Program Files\TV Scheduler Pro Runtime.maxMemory() : 518,979,584 Runtime.totalMemory() : 16,252,928 Runtime.freeMemory() : 5,089,080 Time Zone ID : Australia/Sydney Time Zone Name : Eastern Standard Time (New South Wales) Time Zone DST : 3600000 Time Zone Offset : 36000000 I then stopped an existing installs Service on Server 2003. Unistalled Java 1.6, Installed Java 1.7u5 and restarted the service and it also worked fine, Sysinfo below. System Info -------------------------------------------------------------------------- java.home: C:\Program Files\Java\jre7 java.class.path: java.homeTVSchedulerPro.jar java.specification.version: 1.7 java.specification.vendor: Oracle Corporation java.specification.name: Java Platform API Specification java.version: 1.7.0_05 java.vendor: Oracle Corporation java.vendor.url: http://java.oracle.com/ java.vm.specification.version: 1.7 java.vm.specification.vendor: Oracle Corporation java.vm.specification.name: Java Virtual Machine Specification java.vm.version: 23.1-b03 java.vm.vendor: Oracle Corporation java.vm.name: Java HotSpot Client VM java.class.version: 51.0 os.home: Windows 2003 os.arch: nullos.version: 5.2 user.name: SYSTEM user.home: C:\Documents and Settings\Default User user.dir: C:\Program Files\TV Scheduler Pro Runtime.maxMemory() : 518,979,584 Runtime.totalMemory() : 16,252,928 Runtime.freeMemory() : 5,089,080 Time Zone ID : Australia/Sydney Time Zone Name : Eastern Standard Time (New South Wales) Time Zone DST : 3600000 Time Zone Offset : 36000000 So there must be something else in your setup, I am still guessing Firewall or similar that is blocking the new java install. TVSP itself is not exhibiting any Java compatibilty isssues. |

So there must be something else in your setup, I am still guessing Firewall or similar that is blocking the new java install. I will try once again after disabling the firewall. Also, although both Java 1.6 and 1.7 installs in my Win 7 Prof x86 both show Oracle as publisher in "remove programs" in control panel, your TVSP config differs from mine in that yours shows Oracle and mine Sun Microsystems. I have downloaded the 1.7 u5 offline installer from Oracle and will try that. |

Yes, in both cases I used the offline installer... http://javadl.sun.com/webapps/download/AutoDL?BundleId=65692 Still no success I am afraid. I think we need someone else with Win 7 32 bit to give it a try. Tray icon and service seem to be working OK, it is just an inability to access the Web based GUI with Java 1.7 u5 installed. Regards |

I got access to a Win 7 32 bit Machine.
This one had never had TVSP on it before. Process was... 1. Uninstalled Java 1.6 update 31 2. Installed Java 1.7 Update 5 3. Installed TVSP 184. 4. TVSP started and Firefox opened to the system welcome page. The only things I can think of are. 1. Something is blocking Firefox's access to the java's webport. 2. Windows permissions is preventing something from working properly. 3. TVSP is not actually starting properly (i.e. it can't find the path to java.exe or javaw.exe). Some further suggestions.... Try Internet explorer or some other browser. Renaming the TVSP directory, and install a fresh copy to see if there is something in your config causing a problem. Try a port scanner to see if the port (8420 if thats the one you are using) is open. Try telnet to the port to see if there is a response. Make sure you have Windows administrator privileges. Ensure the service is started AND there is a JAVA process running that is TVSP, (ie it says the service started but it failed to start). Try running the start.bat instead of the service so you can visually see TVSP running. Sysinfo below. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- System Info -------------------------------------------------------------------------- java.home: C:\Program Files\Java\jre7 java.class.path: java.homewrapper.jar;TVSchedulerPro.jar;mail.jar java.specification.version: 1.7 java.specification.vendor: Oracle Corporation java.specification.name: Java Platform API Specification java.version: 1.7.0_05 java.vendor: Oracle Corporation java.vendor.url: http://java.oracle.com/ java.vm.specification.version: 1.7 java.vm.specification.vendor: Oracle Corporation java.vm.specification.name: Java Virtual Machine Specification java.vm.version: 23.1-b03 java.vm.vendor: Oracle Corporation java.vm.name: Java HotSpot Client VM java.class.version: 51.0 os.home: Windows 7 os.arch: nullos.version: 6.1 user.name: SYSTEM user.home: C:\ user.dir: c:\TV Scheduler Pro Runtime.maxMemory() : 518,979,584 Runtime.totalMemory() : 16,252,928 Runtime.freeMemory() : 8,995,520 Time Zone ID : Australia/Sydney Time Zone Name : Eastern Standard Time (New South Wales) Time Zone DST : 3600000 Time Zone Offset : 36000000 This post has been edited by Calvi: Jul 19 2012, 04:23 PM |

Thanks for all of your trouble. Unfortunately nothing that I have tried, or that you have suggested has worked for me.
The Web GUI works fine with Java 1.6u33, but not with Java 1.7u5 on my system. I have tried with both Firefox and Internet Explorer. Perhaps the only difference between your installation and my system is Outpost free firewall and MSE antivirus. Disabling both has no effect on the behaviour. Not to say one or other could not be interfering in some way. Unfortunately it is not possible to either install TVSP or start the service running in safe mode. One thing I could not establish was "a JAVA process running that is TVSP". Task Manager does not show one, and services gives no information. If I have both Java 1.6u33 and Java 1.7u5 installed, is there some way to force TVSP to use the former? |

Uninstalling Outpost free has resolved the issue, at least temporarily.
Now to find out why Outpost is getting in the way... My config: -------------------------------------------------------------------------- System Info -------------------------------------------------------------------------- java.home: C:\Program Files\Java\jre7 java.class.path: java.homewrapper.jar;TVSchedulerPro.jar;mail.jar java.specification.version: 1.7 java.specification.vendor: Oracle Corporation java.specification.name: Java Platform API Specification java.version: 1.7.0_05 java.vendor: Oracle Corporation java.vendor.url: http://java.oracle.com/ java.vm.specification.version: 1.7 java.vm.specification.vendor: Oracle Corporation java.vm.specification.name: Java Virtual Machine Specification java.vm.version: 23.1-b03 java.vm.vendor: Oracle Corporation java.vm.name: Java HotSpot Client VM java.class.version: 51.0 os.home: Windows 7 os.arch: nullos.version: 6.1 user.name: SYSTEM user.home: C:\ user.dir: c:\TV Scheduler Pro Runtime.maxMemory() : 518,979,584 Runtime.totalMemory() : 61,120,512 Runtime.freeMemory() : 12,305,000 Time Zone ID : Australia/Sydney Time Zone Name : Eastern Standard Time (New South Wales) Time Zone DST : 3600000 Time Zone Offset : 36000000 |

I thought that was the most likely culprit.
I would say it was blocking the javaw.exe process from accepting connections to port 8420. There should be a way to set an exception and allow the javaw.exe process access to the network. EDIT: A quick google search shows it known issue... http://www.outpostfirewall.com/forum/showt...post-and-Java-7 This post has been edited by Calvi: Jul 20 2012, 12:20 PM |

EDIT: A quick google search shows it known issue... http://www.outpostfirewall.com/forum/showt...post-and-Java-7 Thanks for the link. I don't think there is a way to set an exception with Outpost Security Suite Free 7.1.1. The localhost pc is by default designated as trusted. Agnitum have just released v7.5.3 of Outpost Security Suite Pro which I can confirm does allow TVSP to run with java 1.7u5 installed. They are also offering discounts on the purchase price, but I think I will hold off a while and see if maybe they will release an update for Outpost Security Suite Free. Hope springs... |

I run no outpost, vanilla win7-64 32bit java, and it failed for me just by installing u5 whereas u3 worked.
The only diff I can spot from your description was remove-java-them-install-new-java for you, vs install-java-over-the-top for me. Must try it one day (it's working, so leaving well enough alone). |

I have been adding features etc to TV Scheduler Pro and thought I would link to here from the TV Scheduler Pro Forum... <Snipped> Download from... http://tvschedulerpro.svn.sourceforge.net/...i_dev/compiled/ There is also a Java 1.7u5 x86 compiled version there if it helps with the recently reported issue. Just unzip over an existing installation (stop service and tray app first) then restart. TV Scheduler Forum... http://sourceforge.net/apps/phpbb/tvschedu...127&start=0 I have been searching for a fix for my older version of DVBWebSchedulerPro-6.0.0.0 / TVScheduler XXXX that I could not get to record in Win 7 x64. I came back to this forum after a long absence, and found your link for the latest and greatest version that has solved my problems after 5 months of using Win MCE to record tv shows with. Just had to update some of the new digital stations and were firing on all cylinders again. Thanks Calvi... ![]() -------------------- Compro E650 / Compro T300 / Compro T100
