Hi,

I've just started using HIP, and I think I understand the basics.
I've managed to map remote presses to various different applications.
But I am having one problem - I can't send a command to an application that is out of focus.

I have the latest version of HIP installed on WinXP.
I am using a Twinhan USB IR remote, that just sends keyboard commands.

All I want to do is to send a ctrl-x (or close app in the mastercontrols) to an out of focus VLC player.

Is there any way to do this?

Thanks

By their very nature, you can only send keyboard commands to the applicaton in focus.

You need to find another way to close this application if you can (via windows messaging, or as a COM command) if you want to close it without having it on top.

Ok thanks, that makes sense!

Unfortunately the generic HIP plugin does'nt recognise my remote which is why I was using keyboard emulation.
It's a bit strange as to why the remote is not recognised because the uIce generic USB HID plugin recognises it.
(I wanted to switch to HIP, because v2.x works under x64 whereas uIce does'nt -
I also tested the remote on XP as well - just to make sure that the HID plugin was'nt working).

I'm not too sure how to go about makeing an app close vis the other 2 options - I'll start googling...
'till then any pointers on how to?

Thanks

The best way to manage open applications using the keyboard is with the Hip control panel which allows you to close open programs and set focus with just the up/down and enter keys
