Card: DNTV TinyTwin USB

Has anyone at all managed to detect any remote control button presses under linux? Note that I'm talking about the latest TinyTwin where lsusb returns with ID 1b80:e402 Afatech .

The remote seems completely dead; the IR Receiver device does not return any input, whether or not the device is excluded from HAL. I've scoured the web looking for instructions, but have only encountered other people with the same problem.

I'm currently running mythbuntu 10.04, but have had the same problem with ubuntu 9.04 and mythbuntu 9.10.

If you've managed to do it, please share!

PS: Thanks to those above with instructions / scripts for downloading, compiling and installing the v4l drivers.

The latest Tinytwin usb card v3 works out of the box with Mythbuntu 11.04.

I haven't tried the remote as I use a Harmony One with an MCE receiver, which also works out of the box.

[Edit] I spoke too soon. See my next post.

I have 2 DigitalNow usb Tinytwin tuners v3 (Afatech 9015). I am using Mythtv 0.24 in Mythbuntu 11.04.

Weird recording problem
All tuners work well in live TV. Each is set to record one stream only. So on stick 1 I have tuners 1 & 2 and on stick 2 tuners 3 & 4, (although the FE refers to them as 1,3,5,7).

If I watch live TV on stick 1 tuner 1 and record on tuner 2, everything is okay. If I watch live TV on stick 1 tuner 2 and record on tuner 1, there is heavy pixelation on playback.

Exactly the same happens with stick 2. If I watch live TV on stick 2 tuner 3 and record on tuner 4, everything is okay. If I watch live TV on stick 2 tuner 4 and record on tuner 3 there is heavy pixelation on playback.

So I am guessing it is not a hardware problem, but rather a settings problem.

I have an Asus S1-AT5NM10E ION2 system with a 1TB HDD that operates as a combined FE/BE. Video is set to vdpau normal.

All suggestions gratefully received.

The next problem is possibly related.

Weird shutdown problem
Apart from the recording problem, I also have a shutdown problem. As stated above, live TV works well on all 4 tuners - until I shutdown. On startup only the first tuner of each stick will work, i.e. tuners 1 & 3.

However, if I shutdown and remove both sticks from the PC, count to about 10, replace them and boot up the pc, all 4 tuners work again in live TV.

I believe this is something to do with forcing the firmware to be reloaded.

My question is, is there a setting or tweak that will get around this rather than removing the sticks every time I shut down?
