My PC doesn't recognise the remote as user input?

It can time out and shut down to sleep mode while I am scrolling through the menus using the remote.

Why does this happen as the HIP program emulates keypress and mouse moves?

Also when WS wakes the PC to do a record the monitor is off. The remote doesn't wake the monitor up but pressing a key or moving the mouse does.

Is there a way to fix this?

I'm using XP SP2 + HIP + Microsoft remote with Alternative driver.

That is strange. Hip does emulate key presses and I did not know that it does not reset the power saving timers. I do not know how to fix this but I will investigate. It may be necessary to use an external program like the one discussed here: http://forums.dvbowners.com/index.php?showtopic=5924 for one of the key strokes to see if that works.

Unfortunately Hip is not accessible when in Sleep mode and so you cannot use this to wake up your PC.

I've half fixed the problem. It would seem the alternative drivers are obsolete and the recommend way of doing it now is to use the Microsoft drive + a registry tweak. I've done that and the PC sort of recognises the remote in that it will stop the PC timing out or it can wake the screen saver.

I still can't get the remote to turn on the monitor after Web Scheduler has woken it for a timer record. I have to move mouse or press keyboard.

I've tried following in the HIP OnResume command:

SendMessage (HWND_BROADCAST, WM_SYSCOMMAND, SC_MONITORPOWER, TurnOn);

and

devcon enable "PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_791E&SUBSYS_826D1043&REV_00*"

which I believe is my display driver, but neither of these worked?

I will try the SimKey program and let you know how i got on.

I Tried SimKey and it didn't work.

Tried re-installing Windows and that didn't work.

Am I the only person with this problem?

Looks like you are alone. On my system, getting the Hip Controller to display will bring the system screen back to life, and so it may be something special with your rig.

Could you confirm your setup works when WS wakes the PC?

HIP works ok for me when I turn the PC on.

It is only a problem when I use it with a WS timer record wake up.

i.e. WS wakes the PC with the screen off and a remote control key press does not turn on the display, unlike the keyboard or mouse which do turn on the display?
