I want to know of any good data recovery program, which will allow me to recover data by choosing a certain file type, rather than looking for everything and displaying all type of results. For example, something which will give me an option to search for only video files, i.e, avi, mpeg, etc, and then will only search for video files, not anything else, and then display on the video data found.

You may try this mac data recovery. I used to use it to recover my lost data after my system crashed. It works pretty well, you may give it a try.
