Hello

I have not used Scheduler for quite some time. I had a look at the EPG earlier today and noticed that ABC2 is missing from my channel list so I tried to add using Auto-Scan. Each attempt gives the following message:

Scan Results:
Can not scan channels while captures are active!

My DNTV Scheduler Pro 2 home screen says:

Now Running:
No running captures

Next Schedule:
No pending schedules

What do I need to do to get past this apparent Catch-22?

Regards, AB

Do you have DNTV LIVE or Windows Media Center on watching or recording TV? If so then close them and try again.

BTW I suggest you update to the latest version of Scheduler Pro available on the DigitalNow website.

Try and restart the DNTVSchedulerPro service, right click on the icon in the notification area, move to options, then to service then click on restart. Then do an auto scan. The device in use info may have gotten screwed up for some reason.

After a reboot, the problem persists and when I try to restart services I get an error - Unable to open service manager. I'm beginning to get that uninstall/reinstall feeling but I'll resist the urge for a bit in case someone comes up with a less sledgehammer like approach.

Try disabling your anti-virus software and try again. If that works then include the DNTV Scheduler Pro folder as excluded in your anti-virus setup. If it doesn't then a reinstall of windows may be on the cards.

BTW can you set out your system specs

OS
x86 or x64
Java version
DNTV Live installed and registered?
TV tuner Hardware
Driver version
Did you install all drivers and programs using the "Run as Administrator" option?

BTW can you set out your system specs

OS Windows 7 Ultimate
x86 or x64 64-bit
Java version Version 6 Update 24
DNTV Live installed and registered? Yes
TV tuner Hardware Tiny USB (Original)
Driver version 1.0.6.4
Did you install all drivers and programs using the "Run as Administrator" option? I believe so.

I'm using Microsoft Security Essentials for AV. Excluding the DNTV Scheduler Pro folder made no difference.

The channels that are installed all work properly. I am using ICE TV to drive DNTV Scheduler Pro and that is also working OK. I have another test W7 system that I can boot and play with. As and when time permits I'll give it a go.

Try starting from scratch.

Uninstall java totally and reboot. Download and install the latest version and test it is working.

Uninstall DNTV Scheduler Pro and reboot. After startup remove the DNTV Scheduler Pro folder from the old install.
Once you've done that install DNTV Scheduler Pro.

Be sure to do the following:

Right click on the setup/install exe and click "Run as Administrator" and then install. Both DNTV LIVE and DNTV Scheduler Pro are recommended to be installed into the \Program Files folder and not \Program Files (x86) although this will change with future versions.

When finished reboot and then go into Scheduler Pro setup and scan for devices. It should detect both TT tuners. Then do a channel scan and select the channels you want for your EPG.

Then go into setup again and setup the System Config

Then setup your ICE TV setup and then map your channels. Reload your EPG data from ICE TV to populate the EPG.

Test a recording.

See how it goes

Well, the exercise was largely successful. I now have all channels shown. I have some test recordings set up for later today. The only bit that is still not working is service restart. I consistently get the error Unable to open service manager.

Thanks for the help.

To be honest I've never used Service Restart (even tho it is there and simple to use). I always stop the service and then when I'm finished doing what I want I click on the Service Start. Never had a problem..

Bear is the expert on DNTV Scheduler Pro, will see if he can look into it if he has time.

In the meantime try and use stop service and start service and see if that works.

cheers

Same error when I try to stop the service. Not serious now that everything else is working. The test recordings I programmed earlier completed without any problems.
