Hi Folks
I hope this isn't a super dumb question but can anyone advise how I can access Schedule Pro when I am away, so that I can set recordings. In the marketing blub it says "Because DNTV Scheduler uses the widely accepted HTTP protocol for delivering the Web interface to your browser you can access and control the Scheduler from anywhere on your home network or, if you have Internet access, anywhere in the world." I am not overly network technical, so not sure how I would logon to Scheduler pro from outside my home network (getting through my ADSL router and firewall) to set something "critical" (of course) to record. Are there any guides on doing this? Thanks Fraser |

Have a read of this http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/tvsc...o_Web_Interface Hi Renura I checked out the document...thanks. Still a little confused as it I would like to secure the access. It refers to "TV Scheduler Pro" having username/password options on General Setting page. DNTV scheduler Pro doesn't appear to have this and all I could find on other posts was "You can also use the username/password feature, read of the instructions in the "users.list" file in the "\data" directory." Didn't really understand this either as I couldn't open that file in the program file (please note I am not a tech giant....probably a moderate user). I have enabled port forwarding for another app I use so that bit shouldn't be a problem but don't want to open the port to DNTV scheduler pro till I atleast have a password. I am sure there is an easy way to do this but haven't found it yet. Thanks Fraser PS....am really starting to get my head around the product an it is proving very reliable on the recording front (so thanks for that) |

DNTV Scheduler Pro started out as TV Scheduler Pro but is now privately developed so they have a lot of similar functions.
Go to C:\Program Files\DNTV Scheduler Pro\data and you will find the users.list file. It's the one you want to edit to set the username and password as set out in that link renura posted. cheers PS after editing you will nee to either reboot or restart the DNTV Scheduler Pro service for the changes to take effect. Ahhh. I am frightened to say/ask.....so with what do I edit this file. Looking at other posts (before I reluctantly typed this one), I gather I may have to use something like gedit?? or something else. As you can tell, I have gone past my normal level of capability (I was going to say expertise but I thought you would have laughed). Thanks Fraser (PS....this bit of the app doesn't seem that "user friendly"....note I said "user" and not "techo") |

Just use notepad. Thanks Renura. I will have a go at setting the userid and password then the port forwarding. But hey guys....it has got to be easier than this. Even in notepad, it didn't recognise the file automatically till I selected "all files" (a mum and dad wouldn't have thought to look at that). A password addition to the "setup" page and some instructions for other non-techo users would be great if you want this product to go "wider". Thanks again Fraser......PS not trying to be difficult but obviously not as techically savy as you guys. |
