Hi all.
I'm running one of the new style Dual Digital 4 cards (black PCB) in a media centre case with an ASUS HDMI motherboard and AMD X64 5200+ CPU, 2gig ram. Onboard video is ATI Radeon 1250. 750gB SATA HDD. Running XP service pack 2. Had service pack 3 but then XP updates wouldn't work (including Explorer 7.0) so I un-installed SP3 and applied all hot-fixes. I've tried the version 3.66 FusionHDTV software/driver that came with the card, and also dowloaded and tried 3.68. Both work pretty damn well, except I need to do some fiddling with the settings to stop a tiny bit of jittering on some channels and recordings. Recording works OK, and plays back OK as well although it was recording in double speed with 3.68 (have since unistalled 3.68 and gone back to 3.66). Problem is, after 10 or 15 minutes or so XP pops up with the ERROR ENCOUNTERED PROGRAM HAS TO CLOSE box (the one with SEND and DON'T SEND check boxes). It all continues to work and record for ages, you can even move the error box away off the screen and it continues to work until I hit "don't send" and Fusion closes. It will restart fine. Error is with ZuluHDTV2.dll I originally had problems with FUSIONHDTV.exe but it was Trend Micro 2009 anti-virus/firewall blocking it. I just added that file to the EXCEPTIONS list in Trend Micro and all worked OK. Also read somewhere about the ZuluHDTV2.dll error being related to anti-virus software, so I then added the entire DVICO directory to the exceptions list of Trend Micro, but kept happening. I then disabled Trend Micro but error still pops up. SO, question is does anyone know wtf is happening? It sounds like something simple, but I can't find it. PS - I'm still developing it, so i'm just using an old 17" VGA monitor at the moment. Once I solve the error i'll plug it into the 42" LG Plasma using the HDMI connector and see how it performs. Case is a Silverstone LC11M using a PCIE and PCI right angle adapter so the cards sit sideways. |

Occasionally I used to get an error message to do with FusionHDTV and the options to click on 'OK' to terminate the program or 'Cancel' to debug the program. The error however was not just specific to Fusion HDTV and also occurred running one or two other programs that stressed the computer. If I move the error message box out of the way FusionHDTV keeps recording. I haven't had the error for some time and I suspect that installing Windows XP Service pack 3 fixed the problem. You should be able to install Service Pack 3 and still have Windows updates work. I'd try and find out why the updates don't work after installing Service Pack 3 and see if you can solve that and it might solve the error problem. You could also try installing the latest FusionHDTV 3.68.04.

Thanks for that. I was advised that SP3 is a bit of a loose cannon at the moment. It also screwed with Trend Micro 2008 ie Trend couldn't actually recognise it as XP, but an upgrade to Trend 2009 solved that. So now I have the pre service pack 3 updates and everything installed i'll try and install it and see how it goes. I already tried 3.68 but had the same error message, but as you say it may be an XP issue so it may go away with a re-install of SP3.
Also, can anyone suggest what is the best Fusion setting using the ATI Radeon video is ie Unified, Zulu, Zulu with DxGA, VMR checked or not and auto, BOB or whatever de-interlacing? I know i'll find it by trial and error but if someone has already done that it would be nice to know If the Fusion software turns out to be as big a PITA as it looks I may upgrade to XP Media Centre as I have heard it works with the card well. |

Tried that first, and have gone back to 3.66. Same problem on both. Will try the hex edit on ZuluHDTV2.dll first.

I edited Zuluhdtv2.dll at Hex level as described in the previously mentioned link. Guess what - IT SEEMS TO ACTUALLY WORK. So far so good. Seems to be stable, no crashes, allows me to have Fusion running and recording 2 x HD channels in the background, no crashes, all good. Will monitor and report.

What actual version of FusionHDTV did you hex edit: 3.68 or 3.68.04? cheers |

I think it's 3.68.04. I only downloaded it off the Fusion site a few days ago.
