Hey guys; not sure if anyone has posted on this yet (did a quick search), but for those interested in streaming digital TV to a PDA here's how I did it.

Software used:

- TSReader (your card needs to be supported by TSReader, try my BDA Plugin which comes bundled with the software if your card is BDA-ready).
- VLC (for Win32)
- TCPMP(for Pocket PC).

Requirements (beyond scope of this post):

- You need to have TSReader setup and working properly with your card.
- You need to have a network connection between your PocketPC and DVB box and be able to directly contact each device by its IP address. The bandwidth must be at least a few Mbit. (the connection method I use is 802.11b)
- Your PocketPC should be fast enough to decode typical-quality DivX in real-time (using Dell Axim x50v here w/ 624MHz CPU).

1. Fire up VLC manually, and select File -> Open Network Stream. Check Stream output, and click 'Settings'.

- Check 'HTTP' and enter the IP address of the DVB box. Pick a port (say 8086).
- Under encapsulation method, choose 'ASF'
- Under transcoding options, choose video codec 'DIV3', bitrate of 2000, scale as 0.25. In other words, choose the most conservative settings for getting it working, and once you have verified the streaming working, you can bump up the quality until you hit the limits of your equipment/network connection. Set the audio codec as 'MP3', bitrate 128.

At the top of this dialog now will be text in the 'Destination target' area. Copy this into the clipboard and close VLC (just cancel out of the dialogs).

2. Launch TSReader. No need to tune at this stage. Select Playback -> VLC -> Settings

- Enter the path to VLC (or browse to it).
- Tick TSReader controls VLC
- Data on TCP port should be 1234

Now use the '+' button to find a 'free' configuration slot. In description enter a label (i.e. Stream to Pocket PC), and in the command, type:

"<IP> " (don't type the quotes, but make sure there is a space). Now paste your MRL string from before. Click OK.

Now tune your DVB card to the carrier (i.e. Nine network). Select the channel from the list on the left (i.e. regular Nine digital). Select Playback -> VLC -> Stream to Pocket PC (or whatever you have labelled it). You may be prompted to select an audio stream to stream, if so, just choose the MPEG stream and click 'Start'.

3. Start TCPMP on your Pocket PC. Select File -> Open and type the URL "http://172.18.32.10:8086" (substituting the IP in your situation of course). Click 'Go'. You should now see the TV stream. You may need to correct the aspect ratio in TCPMP. Select Options -> Pixel Aspect Ratio -> 16:9 screen.

4. Now that all is working, if the quality is too poor for your liking, increase the quality either by editing the MRL string directly, or, if you're not comfortable with doing that, just re-use the VLC 'stream output' dialog as done in Step 1.
